Back on track

For the past three weeks I’ve not had my laptop due to an ongoing repair job which I have to say was all my own fault. Note to self, never nod off with your laptop on your knee whilst holding a mug of tea, it has disaster written all over it.

Well that’s what happened and said laptop had to go into the shop for repairs. The damage was more extensive than I had suspected though, it needed a new screen and a thorough clean out plus one or two other things. Now you can imagine what that must have felt like for a writer. I have two jobs, one that pays the bills and the other is as a writer, although I don’t consider being a writer a job, to me it’s more than that and I just wished it paid more so that it could be a full time job.

Anyway stuck right in the middle of those three weeks was a short city break to London as part of my holiday entitlement I get from work. We chose London as part of our extended family lives there and there is so much to see in the Capitol that we decided to kill two birds with one stone. The city break was wonderful, I got to walk along the bank of the River Thames, got to walk up to Buckingham Palace, sit in the a few of the fantastic parks there and eat in some fabulous, if over priced restaurants. It was great for research value too as some of the books I write are set partly in London so I got to wander around and see the sights some of my characters see as well.

Today my laptop was returned to me and everything is back on track. I’ve spent most of the day catching up on a few things and some writing I had started. I managed, with the help of the wonderful Jess Tahbonemah of Magic Quill Graphics to get the new cover for Pray for Death finished and uploaded to the various distribution sites I use. I did some shares on social media about the various things I am in the middle of and changed some of the book I was writing that had hit a snag before the laptop went down and actually wrote a few thousand more words to it, so that it’s now well on the way. The story is flowing much better with the new changes and it won’t be long now until it is ready to be sent to my editor.

All in all it’s been an extremely productive and ultimately satisfying day. Now I can’t wait for tomorrow so I can get more work done on this new book.PRAY FOR DEATH jpegoffice-620817_1920
