Bond, James Bond, that immortal introduction has been copied, parodied and loved for over fifty years, but it’s one that everyone recognises.
My love for the character began when I was nine years old when as a family we went to the cinema to see Goldfinger, and I have been a fan since that day. I may not like some of the direction the movie producers took him in recent years but I remain loyal. Some of the books the Fleming foundation have sanctioned have also fallen flat for me but then again, it is extremely difficult to write a compelling story about a character who first came to light in the late 50’s and bring him up to date for a new audience.
I’m not a lover of fan fiction, I would never feel truly comfortable writing a James Bond book, even if I was commissioned to do so, I would much rather write an original story that has elements of the Bond character that made him what he is, without plagiarizing him, which is what I hope I’ve achieved with my new series, the Duncan Pryde series.
I’m not going to give too much away about the series, except to say a huge thank you for the staff at Red Penguin Books who agreed to publish it and the first book, Lone Operator, is scheduled for release on September 1st. I will tease a few more details as it gets nearer to publication date, such as a cover reveal and a short description of the story but until then I’m afraid I’m keeping things under wraps.
Until then, there is always the Col Sec series that has just released book 3, Discovery which you can get hold of until Lone Operator is released. Click on the link below to get your copy now.
