What do you do for fun, is a question I get asked and my answer is always, I write.

To some people fun is something you have to get out and do, actually do something, like fishing, or running, exercising, trekking, sailing, travelling, all those sorts of things. Some like to go clubbing, and when I was younger, a lot younger, I did too. To me, sitting at home and reading a good book that I can get lost in, or better yet sit down and write a story that I get lost in are the best things I can think of.

Why do you need to travel when you can go anywhere in a book. Travel to strange worlds, visit strange new civilisations are not possible unless its within the pages of a book. I’m at my happiest when I am creating a story, putting my characters through immense danger facing threats no one should ever have to face in real life and they do it with a smile, at least I do.

So when someone asks me, what do I do for fun, I will always smile and say, I write. What greater pleasure can there be.
