An old saying, no good deed goes unpunished can be taken literally as a hint at negativity or just as a hint of irony but the last week or two I had time to witness this for myself.
My partner and I went to visit family to help out with their two toddlers as the father was away during that time. When we arrived we were greeted by the faughter informing us that she and her two kids all had colds and felt miserable.
This was proven true over the course of the next few days as the screaming kids attested to. Trying to keep two poorly toddlers entertained whilst they cough and sneee and feel utterly terrible is no easy task especially when your partner succumbs to it within the first two days of our time there.
To cut a long story short, I also caught the same malady two days before leaving and whilst my partner was getting over her dose of the cold and was beginning to recover, I am feeling the worst of it even after being at home for a couple of days. It’ll be another week or so before I’m feeling better as I’ve learned that getting older you tend to need more time to shake off something that you’d get through in a day or two when you were younger.
Despite all this we had a great time seeing the grandkids as they are a joy to be around.
